Nag-iisang Teleserye Queen si Claudine!

Kung may kokoronahan man na Teleserye Queen ngayon, walang dudang si Claudine Barretto na ito. Hindi talaga matatawaran ang kanyang galing lalo na pagdating sa drama. Gaya nga ng sabi ni Mariel Rodriguez, napakabilis umiyak ni Claudine sa kanyang mga soap at ang nakakatuwa pa, kahit tuluy-tuloy ang agos ng kanyang luha, hindi pa rin nalulukot ang kanyang mukha. Kaya naman litaw na litaw pa rin ang kanyang emosyon. Ito marahil ang dahilan kung bakit hanggang ngayon, kuhang-kuha pa rin ni Claudine ang puso ng mga manonood pagdating sa drama.

At pagkatapos nga ng isang taon na pamamahinga pagkatapos niyang ipanganak si Baby Santino, heto at muli na naman siyang nagbabalik sa primetime sa pamamagitan ng kanyang comeback teleserye na Iisa Pa Lamang. Kung minahal si Claudine sa mga kanyang mga ginampanang karakter noon gayan ni Olivia “Via” Pereira sa Mula sa Puso, ang triplets na sina Rosario, Rosenda, at Rosemarie sa Saan Ka Man Naroroon, ang unang sirena sa telebisyon na si Marina, at ang pinakahuli nga niyang teleseryeng pinagsamahan nila ni Piolo Pascual na Walang Kapalit kung saan siya gumanap bilang si Melanie Borromeo, paniguradong mas mamahalin ng mga tao si Catherine Ramirez, isang probinsiyanang nagmamahal na pinagkaitan at patuloy na inaapi pero marunong din namang lumaban.

Nang magsimulang umere ang Iisa Pa Lamang na pinagbibidahan ng mga batikang artista sa showbiz gaya nina Ms. Susan Roces, Gabby Concepcion, Diether Ocampo, Laurice Guillen, Angelica Panganiban at marami pang iba, masasabing talagang sinusubaybayan ito ng mga manonood gabi-gabi. Kapag sinimulan mo na siyang panoorin, tipong ayaw mo nang bumitiw dahil sa tindi ng mga eksena at batuhan ng linya lalo na sa pagitan nina Scarlet (Angelica Panganiban) at Catherine (Claudine Barretto). Ngayon pa nga lang, patindi na nang patindi ang mga eksena. Muli na namang iikot ang gulong ng buhay ni Catherine.

Sa isang umpukan, akala namin kung ano ang pinagtatalunan ng mga nag-uusap, ‘yun pala ang mga eksena nina Catherine (Claudine Barretto) at Scarlett ( Angelica Panganiban).

Naghirap na kasi si Catherine at bumalik na ito sa Lola Aura (Susan Roces) niya pero hindi siya tinanggap.

Siyempre, to the rescue naman si Raphael (Gabby Concepcion) na may lihim na pagmamahal kay Catherine pero magkaibi-gan lang sila. Si Miguel (Diether Ocampo) talaga ang mahal ng dalaga.

Nakaka-aliw, super affected ang fans, huh.

Hindi namin masisisi ang viewers. Kami man ay gusto ang treatment ni Direk Ruel Bayani sa teleseryeng ito.

Hindi man bago ang dating ng script, rich guy, poor girl, pero binigyan niya ito ng bagong atake.

Previously on Iisa Pa Lamang, Sophia (Melissa Ricks) stands by her older brother Miguel (Diether Ocampo) who is beset with marital problems. In spite living on her own, Sophia still feels very much affected by the issues involving her family. Soon she will find herself making her own stand when her mother Isadora (Cherry Pie Picache) is threatened by the vengeful Catherine (Claudine Barretto).

As a child, Sophia found her first friend in Catherine. But when unfortunate events tore Catherine’s relationship with Miguel, Sophia’s friendship with Catherine also ended sadly. When her brother married Scarlet and settled in the States, Sophia was left in the care of her mother who continued to instill on her the importance of money and stature. But despite being raised by a wicked Isadora, Sophia’s life remains on track because of the constant guidance of her older brother. She finds the courage to oppose being a part of her mother’s plans to extort more money from Miguel.

May mga kaibigan kaming "lulong" na ngayon sa takbo ng kuwento ng Iisa Pa Lamang. Apektado ng bagong teleseryeng ito pati ang pakikipag-kapwa-tao ng aming mga kaibigan, pati ang kanilang trabaho ay damay na rin, dahil sa Iisa Pa Lamang.

Tama bang pati ang aming pagki-kita-kita ay kailangang maghintay nang gabing-gabi na dahil kailangan pa muna nilang mapanood ang teleseryeng pinagbi-bidahan nina Diether Ocampo, Claudine Barretto at Gabby Concepcion?

Ang alas siyeteng dinner ay nagiging alas diyes na, humihingi sila ng palugit, kailangan daw muna nilang mapanood ang Iisa Pa Lamang dahil painit na nang painit ang ikot ng istorya nito.

"Mamaya na tayo magkita, tatapusin lang muna namin itong Iisa Pa Lamang, kapag nakalampas ang episode na ito, nakakapanghinayang naman," sabi pa ng kaklase namin sa kolehiyo.

May isang kaibigan kaming literal na patay na patay sa panga ni Gabby Concepcion, kapag nawala raw 'yun sa aktor ay hindi na siya si Gabby, kahit daw nu'ng mga kapanahunan ng pagiging matinee idol ni Gabby ay ang kanyang mga panga na ang gustung-gusto ng aming kaibigan.

"Maraming pangahang artista, pero sila lang ni Piolo Pascual ang binabagayan. Habang pinanonood ko nga siya ngayon, naiisip ko lang, ano kaya ang ginagawa ni Gabby to keep his youthful look?

"Para kasi siyang hindi tumatanda, ano ba ang dahilan nu'n, ano ba ang fountain of youth ni Gabby? Sa mga eksena nila ni Claudine, bagay na bagay sila, sabihin pang malaki ang age gap nila, hindi halatado 'yun sa screen," papuri pa ng aming kaibigan.

At pagdating nila sa aming dinner ay 'yun pa rin ang kanilang kuwentuhan, inulit-ulit nila kung ano ang nangyari sa pinanood nilang episode, nakakatuwa sila dahil suportado nila ang Iisa Pa Lamang.

Du'n naman kasi talaga magaling ang ABS-CBN, ang kanilang mga teleserye ay lumalabas na parang pelikula na, ang lahat ng anggulo ay binubusisi ng production staff, kaya sulit na sulit ang panonood ng ating mga kababayan.

At totoong-totoo ang argumento ng aming mga kaibigan, "Ang mahal-mahal na ng gasolina ngayon, napaka-laki rin ng konsumo natin sa kuryente. Darating talaga ang ganitong time na pipiliin na lang natin ang mga shows na kailangan nating panoorin.

"Survival of the fittest talaga ang mangyayari, magtitipid ka sa kuryente, kaya ang pinaka-gusto mo lang na programa ang tututukan mo. Maganda kasi ang packaging ng mga shows ng ABS-CBN, glossy ang mga programa nila, kaya masarap panoorin," pahayag ng aming mga kaibigan.

Kapag ganu'n na ang usapan ay nananahimik na lang kami, isinasa-boses na kasi nila ang gusto naming sabihin, sa kanila na nagmumula ang mga katangian ng ABS-CBN na minamahal ng taong-bayan.

Maganda Ang Istorya At Pacing Ng Iisa Pa Lamang

Maganda ang istorya ng Iisa Pa Lamang at bilib kami sa pacing dahil hindi na pinatatagal ang mga sitwasyon at panahon, gaya ng paglaki ng mga batang sina Claudine Barretto, Diether Ocampo at Gabby Concepcion. Isa sa inaabangan namin dito ay ang pag-ganap ni Susan Roces. Pero bagama't magaling ang beteranang aktres, hindi naman pahuhuli sa kanya si Cherry Pie Picache kahit one dimensional lang ang karakter niya rito. Magugustuhan ng masa ang Iisa Pa Lamang kahit predictable ang mga sitwasyon.

Magaling si Claudine, pero sana, inihanda muna niya ang katawan niya para sa soap opera. The role calls for a young, sweet lass. Dapat, medyo balingkinitan ang katawan niya. Pero mataba siya sa screen. Halatang hindi nag-exercise o nag-gym matapos manganak. Isa pang nakakaloka ay 'yung karakter niya. Ibinigay agad niya ang sarili niya kay Diether sa maikili pa lang nilang pagkikita nitong lumaki na sila. Asan ang moral values niya?

Para ring walang common sense ang ilang karakter dito. Gaya ng kay Rafael (Gabby Concepcion). Sa isang eksena, hinatid niya si Catherine (Claudine) sa tagpuan nila ni Diether para magtanan. Umalis na siya pagtapos itong ihatid. Nag-iisa na lang tuloy si Catherine sa waiting shed. Dinukot siya tuloy ng tatlong lalakeng inutusan ni Cherry Pie.

Common sense dictates na hindi mo iiwan ang isang babae na inihatid mo hangga't hindi dumarating ang hinihintay niyang kasama. Ano ba naman 'yung maghintay ka ng ilang minuto?

Claudine Pumayag Magsuot ng Two-piece sa 'Iisa Pa Lamang'

HINDI naging mahirap i-convince si Claudine Barretto na magsuot ng two-piece bathing suit sa isang eksena sa Iisa Pa Lamang. Ang naging request lang ng aktres ay bigyan siya ng ilang araw para mag-lose pa ng kaunting weight.

Ito ay para sa eksena kung saan nag-declare na ng paghihiganti si Catherine sa mga nang-api sa kanya. Simula na ito ng matinding conflict sa nasabing ABS-CBN teleserye.

Last week ay natuloy nang kunan ang eksena. Nagulat ang IPL cast and crew sa kaseksihan ni Claudine. Malaki ang nawalang weight dito. Kaya raw pala sa set ng IPL ay halos hindi kumakain ang aktres.

Love talaga ni Claudine ang comeback teleserye niya. Lahat gagawin niya para rito. Ang nasabing eksena ni Claudine na naka-two piece swimsuit ay mapapanood ngayong gabi sa Iisa Pa Lamang.

Wala nang duda sa kahusayan ng Queen of Philippine Movies na si Ms. Susan Roces pagdating sa pag ganap. At muli niyang pinatunayan ang kahusayang ito sa Iisa Pa Lamang, na nag-premiere last July 14.

Unang araw pa lang ng Iisa Pa Lamang, nakipag-tagisan na nang husay si Ms. Susan Roces. Matindi ang drama scenes sa pagitan nila nina Claudine Barretto at Cherry Pie Picache. Ms. Susan is playing Aura, ang protective lola ni Claudine (Barretto) na gumaganap naman bilang Catherine.

Inamin ni Ms. Susan na ang Iisa Pa Lamang ang isang proyekto sa telebisyon na na-excite siya. Bukod sa maganda ang kuwento, nakaka-trabaho niya ang ilan sa pinaka-mahusay ng artista ng iba't ibang henerasyon. Ang ganda-ganda ni Claudine Barretto sa Iisa Pa Lamang, walang maling anggulo ang aktres sa mga shots sa kanya sa teleserye, mas gumaganda pa nga si Claudine kapag wala siyang make-up.

May kani-kanyang ganda ang magka-kapatid, si Gretchen ay maganda rin kahit wala itong make-up, pero mas nagiging glamorosa ang aktres kapag talagang naka-ayos ito.

Maganda rin si Marjorie, ang problema lang nito ay ang kanyang timbang, kapag sumosobra ang
kalusugan ni Marjorie ay ang laki-laki nito talaga.

Pero ibang-iba ang kagandahan ni Claudine, meron o wala siyang make-up ay lutang ang kanyang ganda, sa mga eksena niya sa Iisa Pa Lamang ay binubusisi ng manonood kung saan siya nagpapa-alaga ng kanyang kutis.

Isadora’s greed continues

Isadora (Cherry Pie Picache) has left Hacienda Amadesto and now lives a filthy rich life in the city with her beautiful teenage daughter Sophia (Melissa Ricks). In spite of the new scenery, Isadora’s greed and scheming ways has not change. Unfortunately, she is running out of money because of her lavish lifestyle and frequent gambling. When her elder son Miguel (Diether Ocampo) who’s been living in the U.S. with his family for a long time returns home, she will once again use him to save herself from debt and humiliation.

When first husband left her, Isadora knew that she can no longer stand her impoverished state. She climbed up the high society unmindful of the people she hurt in her way. She married the rich hacienda owner Don Victor Castillejos (Chinggoy Alonzo) for money, making her son a legitimate heir to the family wealth. But when Miguel fell in love with Catherine (Claudine Barretto), Isadora refused to let her son throw everything she worked hard. She destroyed Catherine’s life to force Miguel into marrying Scarlet (Angelica Panganiban).

However, Isadora will get her karma years after when Catherine becomes the young new wife of Martin (Bembol Roco), the influential father of Scarlet. A war will erupt between the Isadora and Catherine, and as their rivalry becomes more intense, Isadora will get her hands bloody like never before.

Scarlet: a lover and a fighter

Previously on Iisa Pa Lamang, Scarlet (Angelica Panganiban) continues to remain strong despite the problems in her marriage. She would attend to her husband Miguel (Diether Ocampo) everytime he would come home stressed because of work, and she would keep her children away during tense moments. She deals with the pain of neglect brought about by her husband’s unresolved issues of the past.

Scarlet was born into a rich family, but in spite growing up having the power to get everything she wants, she will always long to own Miguel’s heart. Unknown to her, Isadora forced Miguel to marry her only for the money. Scarlet tried her best to satisfy her husband as they settled down in the U.S., but Miguel’s mind wandered far back home.

The years of submit and silence will reach its limit when her father Martin (Bembol Roco) brings home his new wife who turns out to be Catherine (Claudine Barreto), the old flame of Miguel. Scarlet will step up to protect her father from a scheming and opportunistic woman. Her struggle will further become complicated as she discovers that her husband and her new stepmother still have passionate feelings for each other. How far will Scarlet go to drive Catherine out of her life?

Iisa Pa Lamang is one of the biggest teleseryes created by ABS-CBN. The story was well thought of and the cast well-chosen. Though considered to be young, Ruel Bayani and Manny Palo have proven how good they really are through this project.

Gabby admitted that he’s excited to play the role of Rafael, one of the characters in the life of Catherine (Claudine Barretto).

In the upcoming episodes, Rafael’s character will be seen more in the story as well as the budding love between him and Catherine.

Of course, dramas never left prime time, but often they are either lightweight outings about young lovers, or tiresome murder-and-revenge sob-fests.

So far, “Iisa Pa Lamang” is a successful throwback to the days when drama—especially in the movies—was engaging, thanks to good story lines and compelling plot twists.

“Iisa” has all the hallmarks of a “classic” drama: Claudine Barreto as a poor lass who catches the attention of the handsome, privileged son (Diether Ocampo) of her rich, vile and scheming señora (Cherry Pie Picache); “betrayal” that leads to a life of bitterness and misery; a reversal of fortunes where the oppressed becomes the oppressor; and, presumably, a climax that will bring all conflicts to a head.

What makes this series stand out is that it does not slide back to melodrama. Though far from being original, the conflicts and plot twists are executed in such a way that they seem fresh. A good story line, insightful directing, superb acting, and realistic scripting have all contributed to this.

Gabby Concepcion, who’s making a comeback, further legitimizes “Iisa” as a drama in the mold of Pinoy classics. Though his well-preserved looks were certainly the first come-on, it’s his well-preserved acting chops that elevate the show above regular fare. There’s none of the over-acting that hapless audiences have been accustomed to, especially from younger leading men.

Concepcion is subtle, which is more or less how real men are in real life. It’s okay to want to watch him even if you’re an alpha male and not a gushing female reliving her teens.

Diether Ocampo who, not long ago, was on the verge of show biz extinction, has found a new lease on life, a chance to re-invent himself as a serious contender in the arena of male leads. And it looks like he’s not about to waste the opportunity.

Cherry Pie Picache has consistently lived up to her reputation as a thespian. While not as despicable as Cherrie Gil in the latter’s heyday, Picache displays just the right measure of villainy so as not to appear like a standard soap opera tormentor.

Familiar territory

As for the lead star, Claudine Barretto, she’s obviously in familiar territory. But despite her prowess and experience in this department, something seems amiss, which is why so far, her character doesn’t jump at you despite being the main role. It’s easy to empathize with her, but that’s because of the situation more than the character.

Many viewers will welcome the pacing. Watching one episode feels like watching a week’s worth.

Overall, “Iisa Pa Lamang” serves its title well. It’s the only drama that can be enjoyed by a bigger audience than usual—covering both those who really like soaps and, more significantly, those who usually don’t.

Rafael makes many sacrifices in the name of love on Iisa Pa Lamang

Even if he’s a topnotch lawyer, Rafael (Gabby Concepcion) has a strong desire to help the less fortunate, offering his services for free to those who need it despite his father’s objections. But while he finds fulfillment in helping others, he continues to struggle to find happiness for himself.

Selfless and well mannered, he grew up as a protector and "older brother" to his friends Catherine (Claudine Barretto) and Miguel (Diether Ocampo). After being away from their hometown for a few years, he returns to discover that Catherine and Miguel are already a couple. He decides to give his love for Catherine up until she falls victim to tragedy.

While Rafael tries to help her pick up the pieces of her life, Catherine has other plans in mind. She chooses to marry Miguel’s father-in-law (Bembol Roco) in her pursuit for vengeance. Painful as it is for him, Rafael decides to stand by Catherine’s decision. Will Rafael ever find the love he deserves?

Previously on Iisa Pa Lamang, because of his frustration over Catherine’s (Claudine Barretto) disappearance, Miguel (Diether Ocampo) tried to move on with his life by marrying Scarlet (Angelica Panganiban). He has decided to forget Catherine though it pains him to let go of the memories of his only love.

Miguel was just young when his mother Isadora (Cherry Pie Picache) married the hacienda owner Don Victor (Chinggoy Alonzo). Since then Miguel felt an outsider not only in his own family but also in the discriminating high society. His mother imbibed in his mind that practicality is the only way to survive the world, and love is nothing but a cheap illusion. But when he met Catherine, he knew at once that love is the only thing he needed to feel complete. However, because of Isadora’s evil schemes, Miguel was forced to turn his back on his only love to fulfill his duty in the family.

In his marriage, Miguel will do his best to become a good husband to Scarlet and loving father to their children. But fate will reunite him with Catherine who is now the second wife of Scarlet’s father. Miguel will punish Catherine for choosing money over him. Deep inside though, he will discover a longing for the one who truly owns his heart. Miguel will find himself trapped in a loveless commitment and his real love far from his reach.
